KERALA, AUGUST 09: An unprecedented flood-ravaged [Number of districts] districts of [Name of state] in the month of [Name of the month]. At least [Number of the dead] people lost their lives, many more were reported missing, and more than [Number of homeless people] had been displaced and Schools, colleges, universities, government offices, rail stations, and airports were shut down. In the recent devastating flood-hit areas were like [Name of flood-hit areas] and etc. [Cause of the flood] was the cause of this natural calamity. All the mud houses and some buildings had collapsed and people became homeless.

People took shelter in schools, colleges, churches, and temples.  Besides, huge quantities of crops had been destroyed as the agricultural fields were deep water and the cattle were washed away. A large area of the state became inaccessible as about 10,000 kilometers of roads were underwater and destroyed or damaged. The telecommunication system was also damaged. The electricity supply had been stopped. The government took various steps of relief work. Packets of dry food and bottles of pure drinking water were sent to the affected areas or thrown from helicopters. Various voluntary organizations were busy with relief work.

KOLKATA, AUGUST 09: An unprecedented flood-ravaged 14districts of Kerala in the month of August. At least 87 people lost their lives, many more were reported missing and more than 85,000 had been displaced. The Kochi Airport was shut down. In the recent devastating flood-hit areas like Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod, Malapuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and etc.

Heavy rainfall was the cause of this natural calamity. All the mud houses had collapsed and people became homeless. Besides, huge quantities of crops had been destroyed as the agricultural fields were deep water and the cattle were washed away. 50 PEOPLE DROWN AND MANY MORE MISSING

Malda, September 24, 2022: Certain parts of the Malda district had been horribly flooded. At least 50 people drowned and many more were reported missing. The water of the Ganga, The Kalindi and the Mahananda over-flooded their banks and inundated a vast area of the district. A number of villages in Ratua, Manikchak and Kaliachak blocks had gone underwater. Many houses had been washed away with the current of water. Seventeen primary schools had also been swept away. A large number of crops, mainly standing paddy had been completely damaged because of deep water.

Everything was underwater and destroyed severely. Electric supply had also been stopped. The government sent bottles of drinking water and packets of dry food to the flood-hit areas in order to help the people and save their lives. The supply of food was made through helicopters. People had been shifted to safe places. The embankment has been built to save Malda town from being inundated.

MALDA CUT OFF FROM STATE

Malda, August 25, 2022: More than 3000 families had been washed away due to severe flooding of the Ganga and Fulohar rivers in Kaliachak, Manikchak, Ratua, and Harischandrapur blocks of Malda. Continuous rainfall for the last few days and the breach of a weak embankment were the causes of this natural calamity. Several houses had collapsed and the croplands measuring nearly 1 88,000 hectares had totally been damaged. The National Highway had been flooded. The government took active steps to relief work immediately. The rescue teams were reached the affected areas and shifted various people to the safer areas. Various voluntary organizations took part in relief work and helped people as much as they could. People have lost everything.

Now, the government is making applicable policies to help people financially so that they can build their houses again and start living a happy life as before. Steps are being taken to prevent epidemics in flood-stricken areas.
