The low depression in the Bay of Bengal was the cause of this cyclone. 4 persons in West Bengal and 1 person in Odisha died from electrocution. Parts of Kolkata were waterlogged. Flights, railways and buses had been cancelled due to the cyclone. It also impacted rice cultivation, as vast paddy fields were flattened and crops submerged. It damaged the mud houses, uprooted trees, and downed electricity poles. The government took immediate steps and sent relief to the affected areas. It also announced a compensation of 25 crore for relief and rehabilitation work.

Kolkata, 26 October 2024: A severe cyclonic storm “Dana” pounded India’s eastern coast on Friday. The wind was blowing at 110 km, per hour. The low depression in the Bay of Bengal was the main cause of this devastating cyclone. At least 4 persons were killed in West Bengal while Odisha claimed one life. Four people were missing after several boats capsized in the Ganges River during strong winds in Murshidabad. Parts of Kolkata were waterlogged in the afternoon as the cyclone brought torrential rain. Flights, railways and buses had been cancelled due to the cyclone. Cyclone Dana also impacted rice cultivation, as vast paddy fields were flattened and crops submerged. The storm damaged the kutcha dwellings, uprooted trees, and downed electricity poles. The government took immediate steps and sent relief to the affected areas. He/ she has also announced a compensation of 25 crore for relief and rehabilitation work.

Kolkata, 28 October 2024:  A devastating cyclone Dana struck over the northwest Bay of Bengal early Friday. The wind was blowing at 110 km, per hour. The low depression in the Bay of Bengal was the main cause of this devastating cyclone. 4 persons in West Bengal and one in Odisha died from electrocution. Four persons were missing after several boats capsized in the Ganges River during strong winds in Murshidabad. Parts of Kolkata were waterlogged in the afternoon as the cyclone brought torrential rain. Just after the incident army, many welfare societies and a large number of common folk of Odisha and West Bengal were engaged in rescue operations. The injured persons were taken away to the nearest hospitals. The worst affected areas were Purba Medanipur, Paschim Medanipur, and South 24 Pargana. As a result of this cyclone, thousands of mud houses were damaged and big trees were uprooted. A huge quantity of crops was flattened very badly. Airport operations had been suspended since 5 pm on October 24. Around 203 trains had been cancelled. The government took immediate steps and sent relief to the affected areas. He has also announced a compensation of 25 crore for relief and rehabilitation work.
